candy hearts 2025 letter
Hello! Thank you for signing up to write one of my requests, I hope you have a wonderful time in the exchange and find something in my letter that inspires you. You don't have to incorporate everything or even most of what I talk about here, please find something that inspires you and write something you have a fun time making! I accept treats, and my fic and bookmarks are here if you want to get a sense of things I enjoy.

Fandom: MASH (TV)
B. J. Hunnicutt/Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce
"Trapper" John McIntyre/Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce
Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan & Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce
Okay, MASH is my current hyperfixation, and I am super enjoying being fixated on Hawkeye's desperate attempts to keep his sanity in a hellish situation. I love the earlier seasons, when they feel (and LOOK) younger, and Hawkeye and Trapper are unstoppable partners in crime against a war and army that make no sense. I love them as brilliant surgeons, able to do what no one else can, and obnoxiously arrogant because of it, but also suprisingly and generously kind. I love when Trapper and Hawkeye gang up on someone to protect someone else, showing their chaos can be put to good. I love the way they trust and care for each other. In the episode with Hawkeye's insomnia, you really see Trapper nervous about Hawkeye and caring for him, the way that the jokes cover over something deep and meaningful. Trapper and Hawkeye really feels like they're holding each other up. Hawkeye and BJ, the show has "matured" a bit (and they do just look older, sorry Alan Alda but that is grey hair don't lie), and the war seems more absurd, more depressing, more unstoppable. I love how Hawkeye and BJ settle into their partnership so quickly, how BJ understands that even though Hawkeye sometimes wants to be selfish, he can't be, it's not in his nature. (The episode where Hawkeye is "dead" because of paperwork and says he's going to desert is devastating - BJ knowing Hawkeye will come back to help with the wounded despite his own suffering). Again, it's a relationship of partnership, of mutual care, but also of laughter and silliness. I love the mingled joy and horror of finding your best friend, the person who can finish all your sentences, in the grime and horror of war.
Margaret and Hawkeye's friendship is one of my favourite things. They'll scream at each other like siblings, but in the end, when it comes to brass tacks, they respect each other and will protect and help each other. Hawkeye operating on a rabbit so Margaret can get a pregnancy test. Margaret recognising he's a brilliant surgeon. Working together in perfect harmony (and horror) at the aid station. Holding up together under the worst. I love their friendship and do just want to read more about them helping each other and supporting.
I especially love fic that explores queerness in the show's set time period - how there could be great community, but also fear and shame. I want something hopeful in general, but I'm not afraid of fic that looks honestly at the horror of the war and also the struggles of queer identity.
I know my DNWs mention infidelity, but this canon kind of comes with it built in. I'm fine with both Trapper and BJ cheating on their wives (something they do repeatedly in the show..). This can be angsty or blase, the show takes it both ways, and I'm comfortable with it.

Kamet/Costis Ormentiedes
Eugenides/Irene/Costis Ormentiedes
I read all these books over the festive break and I WOULD DIE FOR COSTIS. The trope of the one honest and honourable man who can't lie being used by the scheming characters as the one solid place to plant their flag???? The way Costis starts out thinking Gen is a degenerate and then being absolutely convinced to be 100% loyal to Gen forever. The way Gen knows he can trust Costis with, well, anything. To walk into the centre of the Empire and pull Kamet out. To save his life. I love Costis knowing he's the king's man. I love tropes of loyalty and honour and mutual service and I would love for you to lean hard on Costis' devotion through loyalty.
On the pairings, I love how Kamet and Costis as a pairing have a sort of opposite journey that Costis has with Gen. As in, Kamet is the one who starts out thinking Costis is useless and an idiot and then slowly begins to understand Costis' value, his skills, his strength, his honour, his kindness. I love how this slowly shows Kamet how to free himself, mentally and emotionally, and I love how Costis is more able to do this than anyone who would have tried to do that explicitly. He's able to teach Kamet precisely because he isn't trying to teach Kamet. I would love some post-canon for them, some of that mutual devotion. Perhaps more of Kamet growing to understand Attolia, to understand Costis' place in court, and making his future life with Costis.
Costis/Gen/Attolia - okay, Attolia is devoted to collecting men who are terrified of her, and Gen is always aiding and abetting this. I want them in a mutually terrifing threesome. I want Gen and Attolia thinking they're in command of this situation and then being terrified of Costis' love and wholesome devotion. I want Costis afraid and in love with the two most terrifying people on the Peninsula. I want their weird and terrifying courtship process. Attolia and Gen cajoling Costis into bed with them. Costis being like what the fuck is my life. All of it.

Chakotay/Kathryn Janeway
Chakotay & B'Elanna Torres
Kathryn Janeway & Tuvok
Chakotay/Tom Paris
I requested a few different options for Voyager but basically I want - gritty and messy. Everyone on this ship is a mess. They are begging, borrowing, stealing and fighting their way across the galaxy while trying not to kill each other. Janeway and Chakotay are holding their ship of fuck ups, former and current terrorists, and random misfits together with their bare hands. Half their crew used to be in out and out open war against the Federation, the other half are traumatised, weird or just plain insane (or all of the above). There's a lot of Chakotay in here because I was rewatching old episodes and I was reminded about how he was my favorite for so long. Deeply principled, serious but able to have fun, A TERRORIST engaged in GUERRILLA WARFARE who is PRETENDING to be a normal and chill guy. I love his friendship with B'Elanna, of old comrades united in their trauma and strongly held principles who have deep and shared respect for each other (and the way the are both genuinely happy for each other as they find love and companionship). I love his EXTREMELY chaotic and sassy relationship with Tom, because Tom is a vector for chaos and I feel like he kind of brings out the chaos that Chakotay is trying to hide (and I would be very up for them having a deeply messy and stupid relationship with a lot of fighting and great sex). I also love him and Janeway's relationship, how there is a truly massive bedrock of respect and admiration between the two of them. Both of them know that the only way they are getting their crews home is by working together, and both of them know they're putting their lives, and the lives of everyone they care about, in the other's hands. And then they mutually rise to the challenge! I think Chakotay truly knows that the only captain capable of getting their ship home is Janeway. and I think Janeway knows she can't do it without Chakotay there. and they have the most AMAZING chemistry I swear to god the looks??? the EYE CONTACT?? THE SIGNIFICANT PAUSES. Anyway they're obsessed with each other professionally and also very not professionally and I'm into it.
Janeway and Tuvok's friendship is too pure for this world. Tuvok a secret asshole badass. Janeway a shouty angry badass. I would love pre-canon them being dipshits together as cadets, or during the show their deep enduring friendship that both will kill to protect. Love them.

Julian Bashir/Elim GarakFanfic
These two twisty motherfuckers falling in love on a space station while lying CONSTANTLY. I love how Julian just has big stars in his eyes when it comes to Garak, how he thinks Garak is so interesting and smooth and suave. I love how Garak learns a lot from Julian, sort of learns to relax in some weird ways and unbend from his strict internal rules. I love them sharing a bit of their trauma with each other, and how they actually seem quite well matched. Julian is a lot more resilient than people give him credit for! and Garak is funnier than most of the station gives him time for. I kind of want them being in love, them building a life together on the station, dealing with cultural miscommunication, trying their best for each other, going to the holo-suite, being so down bad for each other, fighting and making up, and basically being super into each other!
